Antonyo Marest

Spanish Antonyo Marest is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose murals adorn many a facade in countries all over the world and whose artworks have been exhibited in many solo and group shows since 2007. Marest’s works prominently draw inspiration from the bold geometry of Art Deco, multi-coloured patterns of postmodern Memphis Group and the dynamic forms of the Bolidista movement, and his visual language is imbued with a sense of vibrancy, based on years of strong research on colours. Each colour, alongside every pattern and shape is the result of a precise combination study.

Characterised by a vibrant assortment of gradients, Antonyo’s piece in Kannagi Art District  is titled ‘new door’. Opening up a new dimension on the wall through his artwork, metaphorically alludes also to his wish for the community to live a joyous and sunny future. Reflecting the city’s marine economy, the patterns within the mural take inspiration from visual cues from the coast.
