F(r)iction at Kona

New Delhi, 2019

A symbol of the plasticity that has plagued contemporary culture - a light installation depicting ‘0 Likes’ was installed over the exit gate by the elusive artist himself. In a society where one measures self worth, acquires validation, and becomes popular on the basis of social media responses, this work was rightfully called ‘I Broke’, reflecting the dearth of rational and nuanced ideas which were once the measure of life and reality.

Sassoon Dock Art Project

Mumbai, 2017

In a fantastical world, where everything is dreamlike, a young boy is seen yearning to know the sea and its creatures. Depicting the lives of most children who accompany their parents to Sassoon Docks, Zero collaborated with street artist Avi, to transform the two warehouse facades into this surreal landscape. A boat emerges from the vivid colors sprayed by the graffiti writers, as a symbol of escape and desire - which escapulates the dream we see in front of us.

Mahim (E) Art District

Mumbai, 2017

Based on exchanges with the community of Dharavi, Zero created a mural that recognises the neighbourhood as a place of ‘miracles’— a metaphor that aligns with Mahim’s previous name, ‘Mahikavati’. The artist likened the region to a bird’s nest, perched within which is a boy. Playful and painted in soft colours, the boy waits eagerly for the day when he can fly out on his own terms.
